In a long week of holiday tournament coverage, we continued at the 2018 Pontiac Holiday Tournament. The event features 16 teams from across the state that set up for some intriguing match-ups and good games. It was a very well run event with lots of prospects. Here are our Pontiac Holiday Tournament Day 2 standouts!
2019
Payton Amm 6-4 SF Pontiac
Payton Amm had a team high 17 points in a loss to West Aurora. The 6-4 forward proved to be a capable scorer from all three levels. Bombed away from deep and showed some ball skills that should allow him to play on the perimeter at the next level. Has some lateral quickness on the defensive end. Has Division III ability.
Jake Karli 6-1 PG Lockport
Karli has really refined his PG skills over the years, and is now a legitimate prospect at the small school level. The 6-1 lead guard plays with confidence and fire. Good leadership. Does a little bit of everything: 5 assists, 5 rebounds, 2 steals in this one. Where he really was great though, was scoring the ball in the second half. After being held scoreless in the first, and the Danville lead mounting, Karli decided it was up to him to bring the Porters back. Relentlessly attacked the Vikings defense, getting to the hoop, and converting on some acrobatic finished. Capable shooter from distance. Ended up scoring 16.
Tommy Halatek 6-8 C Lockport
Have a game, Tommy Halatek! The 6-8 big body post with good footwork exploded for a 20 point, 19 rebound performance against Danville. Halatek has soft touch around the basket and was finishing off everything that was dumped down to him. Space eater on in the interior that just vacuums up boards in his area. Everything with the Lockport offense revolves around him, the Porters struggled to score when he subbed out. Can get a little sped up at times. Capable of finishing through contact. Shot only 4-8 at the line. Most dominate performance by a big that CPH has seen this season. Small school prospect.
