The summer has come to a conclusion, the travel ball circuit is over, and players are now preparing for the fall leagues and showcases that are coming! End of summer also means new rankings! And with new rankings comes newly ranked players and players who made large leaps in the rankings! The Class of 2022 rankings have not only been updated but also expanded from a Top 150 to a Top 175. Below, we will breakdown some of the biggest stock boosters in the newest edition of the 2022 Top 175 prospect rankings!
Note: NR stands for “not ranked”.
Justin Mullins G Oak Park-River Forest #19 ⇒ #10
Just a 9 spot jump for Mullins but the level of his perception and recruitment is much higher now after June and July. This playmaking wing has upside on defense and with his shot creating ability. Mid Major target.
NJ Benson C Mt. Vernon #17 ⇒ #11
Much like Mullins, Benson doesn’t move up a ton but the level of perception and expectation for him is much different now than in May. A tremendous Mid Major recruit with a set final 5 schools, whichever program lands him will be very fortunate.
Jackson Munro C New Trier NR ⇒ #14
Munro makes his CPH rankings debut at #14. Due to the pandemic and related issues, CPH wasn’t able to actually watch Munro play until this summer. The high academic big impressed with his breezy mobility and skill set. High academic D1’s are on him.
Trey Pettigrew G Kenwood NR ⇒ #15
Pettigrew re-enters the CPH rankings. He spent the previous season in Arizona and has returned to the state, now at Kenwood. He is a Mid Major quality guard with the chance to continue to elevate his stock this winter.
Christian Jones G East St. Louis #50 ⇒ #17
A big guard that can handle, play off-ball, and facilitate, Jones was under ranked by CPH heading into the summer. He exits the summer as a consensus top twenty prospect and a Missouri commit.
Cooper Noard G Glenbrook South #47 ⇒ #23
Noard jumps into the top 25 after a great summer with Glenbrook and the Illinois Wolves. He is a shoot first point with deep range and a quick trigger. A one-time Army commit, Noard is back on the market for Division I schools.
Joseph Fitch F Homeschool NR ⇒ #32
Fitch might be the best kept secret in the state! The spring 6-8 forward is all upside with developing in-game skills. Scholarship schools need to get some film on him or watch him in person, he could end up being a steal.
Will Grudzinski F Barrington #31 ⇒ #24
Grudzinski remains a CPH favorite. He is a jumbo wing at 6-6 with extra length but most importantly is his fluidity and shooting ability. What school doesn’t need size, shooting, and athleticism at the 3 spot? Division I prospect.
Bryce Moore G Carmel #49 ⇒ #29
A recent Niagara commit, Moore transformed himself from fringe scholarship prospect to certified Division I signee. A strong wing that excels playing in a slashing role, expect a big senior season and a continued climb up the rankings from Moore.
Ryan Renfro F Glenbard West #110 ⇒ #30
Renfro jumps an incredible 80 spots from spring to fall. Clearly, CPH had undervalued him heading into the summer. A big that is mobile and plays his part in the post, Division I and II schools should be on the phone with him this fall.
Jeremiah Jones G Marian Catholic #46 ⇒ #34
Jones is primed for a very big senior season with the Spartans. Improved ability as a ball handler and playmaker. Calling card is his defense and ability to guard multiple positions. Pushing the envelope on Division II/Division I status.
Ethan Ivan F Batavia #56 ⇒ #44
Depending on who you ask, Ethan Ivan might be the best Division II prospect in the state. All-around forward with a complete offensive game. Will have his pick of Division II schools, can he put his name in the Division I bucket?
Martell Webb C Tinley Park #68 ⇒ #46
Webb has transferred from Westinghouse to Tinley Park and jumped up 22 spots to go with it. The big body center has touch around the rim and the offense can run through him in the post. He should continue to see his stock boost at Tinley.
Orlando Thomas G Rolling Meadows #75 ⇒ #54
Thomas was really good playing both high school and club ball this summer. Slippery combo-guard that can really put the ball in the hoop. Is on the scholarship radar as a scoring guard.
Ryan Duncan G U-High #102 ⇒ #58
Duncan is a silky smooth combo-guard from little University High in Chicago. His play on the AAU scene this summer firmly put him in the scholarship guard discussion. High academic player.
Elliot Lowndes C Cobden #128 ⇒ #64
You can’t teach size, and if there is any skill or promise of skill to go with it, even better. Nearing 7-0 tall, Lowndes has the size and playing with the Illinois Bears in July, he showed a developing skill set that should make any scholarship or small college school very excited.
Caleb Hannah F Orr NR ⇒ #69
After a major growth spurt and a transfer to Orr, Hannah is now on the radar. Great physical frame that is lean at 6-7. Has tremendous athletic upside. Could burst even further with his play at Orr.
Marcus Overstreet C Whitney Young NR ⇒ #82
Overstreet has a great frame and great size. Plus, he has the motor and tenacity to actually put that frame and size to good use. Raw skill-wise but will be a project big any school from Division II on down would like to have.
Koen Derry F Galesburg NR ⇒ #100
A slashing wing from central Illinois, Derry is a player that will be hot commodity at the small college level. Physique that will add strength and weight. Has the potential to defend multiple positions.
Evan Porto G Stevenson NR ⇒ #104
Sitting just outside of the top 100 is the debut of Evan Porto. The Stevenson lead guard is heady and smooth with the ball. Really makes the offense hum. Division III gem.
